John T. Florey, 61, a native of Attica but for years a prominent Tipton businessman, was stricken suddenly in Tipton at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Leatherman-Morris Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Seeger officiating and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The deceased was born in Attica, Indiana, June 22, 1902, the son of Richard and Bertha (Smith) Florey, and resided in that community until his marriage August 29, 1923 in Veedersburg, Indiana, to the former Opal M. Taylor. The couple moved to Tipton in 1928 where for 22 years he was service manager of the Service Motor Company and for the last several years has been owner and operator of the Six-Acre Drive-Inn. He was a member of the Kemp Memorial Methodist Church of Tipton, a member of Austin Lodge 128, F & AM, and of the Tipton Elks Lodge. Survivors include two sons, John (Sam) Florey, Jr., of Tipton and Robert Florey of Cincinnati, Ohio; the widow, Mrs. John T. Florey; three sisters, Mrs. Burl Shoaf of Veedersburg, Indiana; Mrs. Claude Linker of Rockville, Indiana and Mrs. Jack Pickett of Veedersburg; one brother, Clifford Florey, also of Veedersburg and four grandchildren.

Veedersburg, Ind -- John Florey, 60, a native of Veedersburg died Saturday March 7, 1964 of a heart ailment at his home in Tipton. Mr. Florey, ill 5 years operated a drive-in restaurant in Tipton. Born June 19, 1902, in Fountain County, he was the son of Richard and Bertha Smith Florey. Surviving are the wife, the former Opal Taylor of Veedersburg; two sons, John Jr. of Tipton and Robert of Cincinnati; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Pickett and Mrs. Velma Shoaf of Veedersburg; a brother, Clifford of Veedersburg and a half sister, Mrs. Ruth Linker of Rockville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Letterman Funeral Home in Tipton. Burial also will be there.
